| Description | Specificity: Human CD41a. CD41a represents the integrin betaIIb subunit that is expressed as a heterodimer noncovalently associated with the integrin beta3 subunit (CD61) to form the platelet glycoprotein complex, gpIIb/IIIa (CD41/CD61). It is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes. Ligands for the CD41/CD61 heterodimer include fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, fibronectin, vitronectin and thrombospondin. Binding to these ligands is dependent upon the activation state of the platelets. Unstimulated platelets only bind immobilized fibrinogen. The CD41/CD61 complex is the major integrin on platelets and is important for platelet adhesion and aggregation. |
