Solute carrier family 1 member 5 (SLC1A5 or ASCT2) belongs to the SLC1 transporter family, which is used for exchanging neutral amino acids, especially glutamine uptake. SLC1A5 on the cytosolic membrane transports glutamine inwardly to regulate cellular energy metabolism, biosynthesis, cell proliferation, and signal transduction.
