Description | CD8b Antibody, anti-rat, APC-Vio® 770, REAfinity™. Clone REA222 recognizes rat CD8b, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily also known as T cell surface glycoprotein Lyt-3. CD8b is expressed on cytotoxic T cells, thymocytes, and macrophages as a heterodimer with CD8a. CD8 identifies cytotoxic/suppressor T cells that interact with MHC class I bearing targets and plays a role in the process of T cell mediated killing. Flow cytometric analysis showed that CD8 T cells from lymph nodes or spleen of normal rats almost exclusively express the α/β heterodimer, regardless of the T cell receptor isotype. In contrast, natural killer cells carry only CD8a chains. | Additional information: Clone REA222 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |
