| Description | Specificity: GFA-02 reacts with Glial Fibrillary Acid Protein (52 kD). GFAP is the major protein of glial filaments in astrocytes and ependymal cells. In the peripheral nervous system GFAP is found in Schwann cells. Glial fibrillary acidic protein is an intermediate-filament (IF) protein that is highly specific for cells of astroglial lineage. It is used frequently as an astrocyte marker. |
