RXR alpha is a 54kD member of the steroid/ thyroid receptor superfamily of transcriptional regulators, and is a nuclear receptor that mediates the biological effects of retinoids through its involvement in retinoic acid-mediated gene activation. RXR alpha regulates gene transcription by recruiting coactivators or corepressors to their promoter sequences. . .
