| Description | This antiserum is directed against Erk-2 and is useful in determining its presence in immunoblotting experiments. This antibody does not cross react with Erk-1. This antibody reacts with Erk-2 in human and mouse. Reactivity to rat tissues is anticipated due to sequence similarities between the peptide antigen and the corresponding sequence found in rat. Cell proliferation is regulated in several contexts, for example during development, tissue differentiation, wound healing and immune responses. In mammalian cells, proliferative signals lead to the activation of a protein kinase cascade, resulting in the phosphorylation of two closely related Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinases (MAPKs) ERK1 and ERK2.
