| Description | Rabbit anti BCR (pTyr177) antibody recognizes breakpoint cluster region protein (BCR), also known as Renal carcinoma antigen NY-REN-26, when phosphorylated at tyrosine 177. The BCR protein is a GTPase activating protein and a serine/threonine kinase. A translocation event between chromosomes 9 and 22 results in the fusion of c-ABL and BCR genes and subsequent expression of the BCR/ABL fusion protein (Hantschel and Superti-Furga, 2004). BCR/ABL is associated with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). Phosphorylation of tyrosine 177 of BCR (in the BCR/ABL fusion protein) plays a key role in BCR/ABL mediated myeloproliferative disease (MPD) (Quint!s-Cardama and Cortes, 2009). |
