| Description | Specificity: Human, Mouse. On ligand binding of BMP-2 and BMP-4, BMPR1A (a type I receptor) forms a receptor complex consisting of two type II and two type I transmembrane serine/threonine kinases. Type II receptors phosphorylate and activate type I receptors which autophosphorylate, then bind and activate SMAD transcriptional regulators. Targeted disruption of the BMPR1A receptor protein in the mesenchymal cells of the Mullerian ducts of mice leads to retention of oviducts and uteri in males. |
