| Description | Purified anti-IREB2. IREB2 is an iron-responsive protein that regulates a cell's levels of iron, a key micronutrient. In low-iron situations, IREB2 is free to bind to iron-responsive elements in mRNA molecules, stabilizing transferrin mRNA to increase expression of the iron uptake receptor, while blocking the translation of ferritin mRNA, a protein which sequesters excess iron molecules.
