STAT2 is a member of the STAT family of transcription factors that is phosphorylated by receptor associated kinases in response to cytokines and growth factors. After activation, STAT2 forms heterodimers with STAT1. Once it is activated, STAT1 and STAT2 dimerize and are translocated to the nucleus to act as a transcription factor.
