Phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3 kinase) is a lipid kinase that plays a critical role in cell signaling through generation of phosphoinositides at the plasma membrane in response to growth factor and hormone stimulation. Activation of PI3K is essential for cell growth, migration, motility, and survival.
