Description | This antibody recognizes poly(GP) dipeptide repeat proteins produced from an expanded hexanucleotide (GGGGCC) repeat in the first intron of C9ORF72, the most common known genetic cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The expanded GGGGCC repeat undergoes an atypical form of translation - repeat-associated non-ATG (RAN) translation - forming various dipeptide repeat proteins, one of which is poly(GP). The hybridoma was commercially generated with funds from the Target ALS Foundation. |
