Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-beta (PGC-1beta) is a member of a family of transcriptional coactivators that play a role in metabolism and whole-body homeostasis. PGC-1beta has been shown to be a co-activator of the estrogen receptor alpha, glucocorticoid receptor, and the nuclear respiratory factor 1 (NRF1). Additionally PGC-1beta is suggested to be integral to mitochondrial function and glucose metabolism. |
