Description | CD49e Antibody, anti-mouse/rat, Biotin. Clone HMα5-1 recognizes the mouse and rat CD49e antigen, also known as integrin alpha-5, which is a protein belonging to the integrin alpha chain family. Integrins are cell-surface receptors, expressed as heterodimers essential in various processes mediating intercellular or cellmatrix interaction. Integrin alpha-5 is composed of a heavy and a light chain linked by a disulfide bond. CD49e associates non-covalently with the integrin beta-1 (CD29) forming the very late activation antigen-5 (VLA5) complex. It is expressed on different cell types including thymocytes, mast cells, activated T cells, and splenic B cells. | | | | |
