Description | Histone H3 pS28 Antibody, anti-human/mouse, PE, REAfinity™. Clone REA379 recognizes the human and mouse histone H3 antigen phosphorylated at serine 28 (pS28). Histone H3 is one of the five main histone proteins involved in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 protrudes from the globular nucleosome core and can undergo several different types of post-translational modification that influence cellular processes. These modifications include the covalent attachment of methyl or acetyl groups to lysine and arginine amino acids and the phosphorylation of serine or threonine. Phosphorylation of histone H3 at pS10 and pS28 is very important for chromosome condensation and segregation during mitosis. The phosphorylation of histone H3 at pS10 appears to be involved in the initiation of chromosome condensation but not the maintenance of it. Although phosphorylation of histone H3 at pS10 is related to chromosome assembly, congregation at the metaphase plate, and segregation, phosphorylation of histone H3 at pS28 occurs in chromosomes predominantly during early mitosis and coincides with the initiation of mitotic chromosome condensation in various mammalian cell lines. | Additional information: Clone REA379 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
