DescriptionCD239 (BCAM) Antibody, anti-human, Vio® Bright V423, REAfinity™. Clone REA276 recognizes the CD239 antigen, a type I membrane glycoprotein also known as basal cell adhesion molecule (BCAM) or Lutheran blood group glycoprotein (LU), which are two alternatively spliced variants of a single immunoglobulin superfamily protein that differ in the length of their cytoplasmic tails. Mouse and human CD239 is highly conserved at the amino acid sequence level. CD239 has a wide tissue distribution and is closely associated with the basal layer of cells in epithelia and the endothelium of blood vessel walls. The expression of CD239 is higher in fetal versus adult tissues, and is upregulated following malignant transformation in some cell types. CD239 is the receptor for laminin alpha-5, an extracellular matrix protein involved in cell differentiation, adhesion, migration, and proliferation. It may plays a role in epithelial cell cancer and in vaso-occlusion of red blood cells in sickle cell disease. | Additional information: Clone REA276 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
