Description | BATF Antibody, anti-human, APC, REAfinity™. Clone REA486 recognizes the human B cell-activating transcription factor (BATF) antigen, a 14 kDa transcription factor belonging to the AP-1 family of basic leucine zipper transcription factors. BATF plays an important role in regulating differentiation and function in many lymphocyte lineages. In the CD8+ T cell lineage, increased expression of BATF in exhausted CD8+ T cells suppresses their effector function. In the CD4+ T cell lineage, BATF is required for the differentiation of interleukin 17 producing helper T cells, where it binds cooperatively with the transcription factor IRF4 and its dimerization partners c-Jun, JunB, and JunD. BATF is also important for the development of follicular helper T cells by regulating the transcription factors Bcl-6 and c-Maf. In addition, BATF is required for class-switch recombination in B cells and to regulate activation-induced cytidine deaminase as well as DNA damage checkpoint in hematopoietic stem cell self-renewal. | Additional information: Clone REA486 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. | |
