DescriptionLy-49C/I Antibody, anti-mouse, Biotin, REAfinity™. Clone REA253 recognizes the mouse lymphocyte antigen 49c (Ly-49C), a type II transmembrane protein which is also known as killer cell lectin-like receptor 3 (Klra3). The REA253 antibody reacts with Ly-49C of BALB, B6, NZB, C57BL, and Ly-49I of B6 mice strains. Ly-49 family members are both activating and inhibitory receptors and are mainly receptors for MHC class I molecules. Ly-49C is a cell surface molecule expressed on a subpopulation of murine natural killer cells and NK1.1 T cells that are involved in the specific rejection of H-2d or H-2f (hemopoietic histocompatibility determinant 2) bone marrow cell grafts. It transduces a negative signal to NK cells upon recognition of class I antigens. The particular allele of Ly-49C, i.e., C57BL versus BALB, determines to a large extent which class I antigen (H-2Kb for B6, Kb and H-2d for BALB/c or BALB.B) sends negative signals to Ly-49C+ NK cells. Clone REA253 blocks the binding of Ly-49C to MHC class I antigens of the b, d, k, and s haplotypes. The epitope recognized by REA253 may be masked on NK cells due to interactions with MHC class I molecules. | Additional information: Clone REA253 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
