Description | Dectin-1 Antibody, anti-human, PE, REAfinity™. Clone REA515 recognizes human DC-associated C-type lectin 1 (dectin-1), an approximately 33 kDa single-pass type II membrane protein, which is also known as C-type lectin domain family 7 member A (CLEC7A) or beta-glucan receptor (BGR). It promotes the phagocytosis of intact yeasts and glucan particles such as β-1,3-linked and β-1,6-glucans, thus playing an important role in anti-fungal immunity. In humans, eight isoforms of dectin-1 have been described. Only the two most common isoforms, dectin-1A and dectin-1B mediate the recognition of yeast particles in a beta-glucan-dependent manner. Monocytes express both dectin-1A and dectin-1B, while dectin-1A expression decreases during maturation to macrophages. Immature dendritic cells express high levels of both isoforms, but expression is lost when these cells are matured with LPS. Expression is also found on subpopulations of B cells, endothelial cells, eosinophils, fibroblasts, keratinocytes, Kupffer cells, Langerhans cells, mast cells, microglial cells, neutrophils, and T cells. In co-operation with TLR2 and TLR4, dectin-1 leads to cytokine production in human macrophages and monocytes. | Additional information: Clone REA515 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
