Description | CD243 (ABCB1) Antibody, anti-human, PE, REAfinity™. Clone REA495 recognizes the human CD243 antigen, a multi-pass membrane protein which is also known as multidrug resistance protein 1 (MDR1), ATP-binding cassette sub-family B member 1 (ABCB1), or P-glycoprotein 1. CD243 is a member of the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily and plays an important role in the development of multidrug resistance (MDR) in cancer cells. This transporter utilizes energy from ATP hydrolysis for the efflux of a variety of chemically dissimilar amphipathic compounds, including anticancer drugs. CD243 is extensively distributed and expressed in the intestinal epithelium, in liver cells, in the cells of the proximal tubule of the kidney and in the capillary endothelial cells composing the blood-brain barrier and blood-testis barrier. It is also expressed on hematopoietic stem cells, T cells, B cells, and NK cells as well as on many multidrug resistant neoplastic cells. | Additional information: Clone REA495 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
