Description | Bcl-2 Antibody, anti-mouse, PE, REAfinity™. Clone REA356 recognizes the mouse Bcl-2 antigen, a 26 kDa intracellular single-pass membrane protein found primarily in the mitochondrion outer membrane, the nucleus membrane, and the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Bcl-2 is the founding member of the Bcl-2 family of regulator proteins and it forms homodimers or heterodimers with other Bcl-2 family members. It suppresses apoptosis in a variety of cell systems including factor-dependent lymphohematopoietic and neural cells. Bcl-2 regulates cell death by controlling the mitochondrial membrane permeability and it appears to function in a feedback loop system with caspases. Caspase activity is either inhibited by preventing the release of cytochrome c from the mitochondria and/or by binding to the apoptosis-activating factor. | Additional information: Clone REA356 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
