Description | CD146 (MCAM) Antibody, anti-human, PE, REAdye_lease™. Clone REAL1221 is an antibody fragment derived from the full CD146 (MCAM) antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity. | Clone REAL1221 recognizes the human CD146 (MCAM) antigen, also known as MUC18, Mel-CAM, and S-Endo-1. CD146 (MCAM) is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily and contains five extracellular immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domains. CD146 (MCAM) possesses a limited tissue expression distribution, including endothelial cells, pericytes, smooth muscle cells, follicular dendritic cells, melanoma cells, and a sub-population of activated T lymphocytes. CD146 (MCAM) is also expressed on marrow stromal cells (MSCs). CD146 (MCAM) functions as a Ca2+-independent cell adhesion molecule that is involved in heterophilic cell-cell interactions, and may be involved in the extravasion and/or homing of activated T cells. CD146 (MCAM) expression in melanoma is also directly associated with tumor growth and metastasis. | For removal of REAdye_lease fluorochromes for optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAdye_lease antibodies use the REAlease Support Kit (130-120-675). | |
