Description | CD256 (APRIL) Antibody, anti-human/mouse, APC, REAfinity™. Clone REA347 recognizes the human and mouse CD256 antigen, a protein which is a member of the TNF ligand superfamily and also known as tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13 (TNFSF13) or a proliferation-inducing ligand (APRIL). CD256 is expressed at high levels in transformed cell lines, cancers of colon, thyroid, lymphoid tissues, and specifically expressed in monocytes and macrophages. Secreted CD256 consists almost entirely of a single TNF homology domain. Little or no transmembrane CD256 is expressed on the cell surface. CD256 binds with high affinity the TNFR family members B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) and transmembrane activator and CAML-interactor (TACI). It stimulates B and T cell proliferation, triggers humoral immune responses, activates NF-κB, and induces cell death. CD256 and its receptors BCMA and TACI are involved in diseases of autoimmunity and cancer. | Additional information: Clone REA347 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
