DescriptionPodoplanin Antibody, anti-human, pure, REAfinity™. Clone REA446 recognizes the human podoplanin antigen, a 38-44 kDa mucin-type transmembrane protein which is also known as E11, GP38, OTS8, PA2.26, T1A, or aggrus. Podoplanin has a wide variety of functions including regulation of organ development, cell motility, tumorigenesis, and metastasis. It is expressed in multiple tissues during ontogeny and in adult, including the brain, heart, kidney, lungs, osteoblasts, and lymphoid organs. In lymphoid organs it is present in spleen four days postnatally. In adults, expression is detected on fibroblastic reticular cells, lymphatic endothelial cells, follicular dendritic cells in lymph node and spleen, and thymic medullary epithelial cells. Tumor cells often upregulate podoplanin as they undergo epithelial-mesenchymal transition and this upregulation is correlated with increased motility and metastasis. | Additional information: Clone REA446 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
