Description | CD68 Antibody, anti-human, FITC, REAdye_lease™. Clone REAL566 is an antibody fragment derived from the full CD68 antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity. | Clone REAL566 recognizes the human CD68 antigen, a 110 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein classified as a lysosomal/ endosomal-associated membrane glycoprotein (LAMP) family member. CD68 is highly expressed by human monocytes and tissue macrophages but also found in subpopulations of B cells, fibroblasts, endothelial, myeloid precursors, peripheral blood granulocytes, and plasmacytoid T cells. It is found predominantly in late endosomal and lysosomal compartments, with a modest level of cell surface expression. It is strongly expressed in chronic and acute myeloid leukemia but not in lymphomas. CD68 is suggested to be involved in phagocytic activities of tissue macrophages, in intracellular lysosomal metabolism and extracellular cell-cell and cell-pathogen interactions. | For removal of REAdye_lease fluorochromes for optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAdye_lease antibodies use the REAlease Support Kit (130-120-675). |
