Description | The antibody to E-cadherin is well suited to detect this glycoprotein in different types of epithelia. The localization is usually limited to the lateral cell membrane. E-Cadherin (Uvomorulin, ARC-1) is a Ca2+-dependent trans-membrane protein, which plays an important role for the cell connection in epithelia. Ligands for E-Cadherin are catenins, which bind to actin filaments of the cyto-skeleton. The cell to cell adhesion during embryo genesis is dependent of the interrelation of these three components. Reduced expression of E-Cadherin in carcinoma has been discussed as a factor influencing tumour invasion and bad prognosis of cancer. E-Cadherin 120 kDa. |
