| Description | Specificity: MMP7 antibody detects endogenous levels of total MMP7. Description: MMP7 Degrades casein, gelatins of types I, III, IV, and V, and fibronectin. Activates procollagenase. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.Function: Degrades casein, gelatins of types I, III, IV, and V, and fibronectin. Activates procollagenase.Similarity: The conserved cysteine present in the cysteine-switch motif binds the catalytic zinc ion, thus inhibiting the enzyme. The dissociation of the cysteine from the zinc ion upon the activation-peptide release activates the enzyme. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family. |
