| Description | Specificity: Anti-BACE2 (NT) [Rabbit antibody to peptide corresponding to aa 44-59 at the N-terminus of human BACE2.]. This antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat BACE2 (approx. 75 kD). Accumulation of the amyloid- beta peptide (A beta ) in the cerebral cortex is a critical event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. A beta peptide is generated as a result of proteolytic cleavage of the beta -amyloid protein precursor (APP) at beta - and gamma -sites. beta -secretase was recently identified and designated beta-site APP cleaving enzyme (BACE) and aspartyl protease 2 (Asp2).
