| Description | Muellerian inhibiting substance/anti-Muellerian hormone (MIS/AMH) is a regulator of the female reproductive system, an indicator of ovarian reserve and a growth inhibitor of Muellerian duct-derived tumors in vivo and in vitro. It is required for sexual differentiation in the fetus, and in adult females AMH is produced by growing ovarian follicles. Consequently, AMH levels are correlated with ovarian reserve, declining towards menopause when the oocyte pool is exhausted.
