| Description | Recognizes fusion proteins containing Photinus pyralis luciferase. Photinus pyralis (Firefly) luciferase is a 62 kDa molecular weight enzyme which catalyzes a light-emitting reaction. Gene expression in transfected eukaryotic or prokaryotic cells is generally studied by linking a promoter sequence to an easily detectable 'reporter' gene such as that encoding for firefly luciferase. The luciferase gene of the North American firefly Photinus pyralis is one of the most versatile reporter genes. |
