| Description | Specificity: Human VCAM1/VCAM-1/CD106. This antibody is expected to recognize isoform a (NP_001069.1) and isoform c (NP_001186763.1). Vascular cell adhesion molecule 1, VCAM-1, is a surface glycoproteinexpressed by cytokine-activated endothelium that mediates the adhesionof monocytes and lymphocytes. VCAM-1 and integrin alpha-4-beta-1facilitate a critical cell-cell adhesion event required for survival ofendothelial and mural cells during vascularization. Studies of heartdevelopment have shown that deficiencies of VCAM and in alpha-4 integrinalso result in epicardial dissolution and subsequent myocardialthinning. |
