| Description | This AGT antibody is generated from mice immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 37-65 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human AGT. The protein encoded by this gene, pre-angiotensinogen orangiotensinogen precursor, is expressed in the liver and is cleavedby the enzyme renin in response to lowered blood pressure. Theresulting product, angiotensin I, is then cleaved by angiotensinconverting enzyme (ACE) to generate the physiologically activeenzyme angiotensin II. The protein is involved in maintaining bloodpressure and in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension andpreeclampsia.
