| Description | Rabbit anti BAD (pSer112) antibody recognizes Bcl2-associated agonist of cell death (BAD), also known as Bcl-xL/Bcl-2-associated death promoter, Bcl-2 binding component 6 or Bcl2-L-8, when phosphorylated at serine 112. Similar to the other Bcl-2 protein family members, Bax, Bak, Bid and Bock, BAD has a pro-apoptotic function in the apoptosis signaling cascade. The precise role of BAD in apoptosis signaling depends on BAD's post-translational modification status. Nonphosphorylated BAD forms heterodimers with the two anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein family members, Bcl-xL and Bcl-2 (Zha et al. 1996).
