| Description | Specificity: Human SSTR2. BLAST analysis of the peptide immunogen showed no homology with other human proteins. SST2 is a Somatostatin receptor. Somatostatin negatively regulates the growth of various normal and tumor cells via five somatostatin receptors. Somatostatin receptors are expressed by a large variety of human tumors, and the predominant expression of SST2 receptors in tumor tissues forms the basis for the successful application of SST2-preferring agonists in the treatment of patients with GH-secreting pituitary adenomas, as well as in patients with carcinoid or islet cell tumors. |
