| Description | The CBT6 antibody is directed against human CD1a and has been reported to cross react with mouse thymocytes. CD1 molecules are 49kDa type 1 membrane glycoproteins that contain a single Ig-like domain, which associate with beta-2 microglobulin to form a heterodimer. The CD1 glycoproteins function as antigen-presenting molecules for exogenous and endogenous lipids, glycolipids and lipopeptides to specialised T cells. The CD1 molecules show some sequence similarities to major histocompatibility (MHC) class I and class II molecules, but are not encoded by the MHC genes and are not significantly polymorphic.
