| Description | Rabbit anti estrogen receptor alpha (pSer104) antibody recognizes estrogen receptor alpha, also known as ER-alpha, when phosphorylated at serine 104. Estrogen receptor alpha is a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily and also functions as a ligand-regulated transcription factor. Estrogen receptor alpha consists of several domains including the transcription activation function-1 domain (AF-1), the DNA-binding domain, the hinge domain and the ligand-binding domain (AF-2). Estrogen receptor alpha is phosphorylated at serine 104 by MAPKs, Cdk2 and GSK3 (Thomas et al. 2008, Rogatsky et al. 1999, Medunjanin et al. 2005). Phosphorylation at serine 104 contributes to agonist independent activation of estrogen receptor alpha. |
