| Description | RNA helicases play important roles in transcription, RNA processing,translation, and RNA replication. DEAD box proteins are putative RNAhelicases that have a characteristic Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) box as 1 of 8 highly conserved sequence motifs. DHX9 a member of the DEAHfamily of proteins, which possess a double-stranded RNA-binding domain (dsRBD) and a helicase domain. It unwinds double-stranded DNA andRNA in a 3' to 5' direction. Alteration of secondary structure of DHX9 may subsequently influence interactions with proteins or other nucleicacids. It is also a component of the CRD-mediated complex that promotes MYC mRNA stability. In addition, it is involved with LARP6 in thestabilization of type I collagen mRNAs for CO1A1 and CO1A2. |
