Description | This COMT antibody is generated from mice immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 37-65 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human COMT. Catechol-O-methyltransferase catalyzes the transfer of amethyl group from S-adenosylmethionine to catecholamines, includingthe neurotransmitters dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. This O-methylation results in one of the major degradative pathwaysof the catecholamine transmitters. In addition to its role in themetabolism of endogenous substances, COMT is important in themetabolism of catechol drugs used in the treatment of hypertension, asthma, and Parkinson disease. COMT is found in two forms intissues, a soluble form (S-COMT) and a membrane-bou |
