Myosin, the major component of muscle filaments, is a long asymmetricmolecule containing a globular head and a long tail. It is composed oftwo heavy chains and four light chains. Phosphorylation of myosin lightchain in response to increased calcium levels leads to contraction.Myosin light chain phosphatase acts to regulate muscle contraction bydephosphorylating activated myosin light chain. |
