| Description | Specificity: peptide (SDEGADQEEEAYLRED) corresponding to amino acids 222 to 237 of murine Smac/DIABLO. Second mitochondria-derived activator of caspase (SMAC) has been implicated in the activation of apoptosis in response to cell stress. SMAC promotes CASP9 activation by binding to IAPs and removing their inhibitory activity. The inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) regulate programmed cell death by inhibiting members of the caspase family of enzymes. |
