The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G-protein that inhibits adenylate cyclase activity. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 3 family. Interacts with PICK1. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.Function: G-protein coupled receptor for glutamate. Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of down-stream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase.
