Description | This JUP antibody is generated from mice immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 636-663 amino acids from human JUP. This gene encodes a major cytoplasmic protein which is theonly known constituent common to submembranous plaques of bothdesmosomes and intermediate junctions. This protein forms distinctcomplexes with cadherins and desmosomal cadherins and is a memberof the catenin family since it contains a distinct repeating aminoacid motif called the armadillo repeat. Mutation in this gene hasbeen associated with Naxos disease. Alternative splicing occurs inthis gene; however, not all transcripts have been fully described. |
