Description | Leukocyte Ig-like receptors (LILRs) are the mammalian ortholog of Paired Ig-like Receptors (PirB) receptors which are encoded by several genes and are expressed on various immune cells from myeloid and lymphoid lineages (1). LILRs are divided into two types of receptors: activating-type receptors and inhibitory-type. LILRB receptor genes are located on chromosomal region 19q13.4 which encode 19 genes encoding leukocyte-expressed receptors of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. LIRs contain either two or four Ig domains and fall into three classes: (i) those with cytoplasmic domains containing two, three, or four immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif-like motifs; (ii) those with a short cytoplasmic domain and no immunoreceptor tyro |
