L-glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G-protein that inhibits adenylate cyclase activity.Function: G-protein coupled receptor for glutamate.
