| Description | Specificity: Multiple synthetic peptides corresponding to C-terminal and N-terminal domains of the protein coded by the human gene cdk9 (PITALRE). CDK9, a CDC2/CDK type protein kinase, is a component of the multiprotein complex TAK/P-TEFb, which is an elongation factor for RNA polymerase II-directed transcription. CDK9 associates with cyclin K or T, and this complex phosphorylates the C-terminal domain (CTD) of the holoenzyme. CDK9/cyclin K also has been shown to phosphorylate the retinoblastoma protein (Rb) and myelin basic protein. At least two mRNA transcripts have been reported -- 2.8- and 4.3-kb. |
