Description | The antibody is used for the detection of oestrogen receptors in normal and diseased tissue, especially in mamma carcinoma and metastases. The amount of oestrogen receptors may be helpful for decision making in anti-hormone therapy and evaluation of prognosis in mamma carcinoma. It should always be used in combination with other markers like progesterone receptor, cathepsin D, C-erbB-2 and other relevant clinical information. Tissues which are stimulated by oestrogens require receptors for these steroid hormones. Oestrogen receptor alpha (ESR1) is mainly located in the nuclei of the responsive tissues, but to a minor extent also in the cytoplasm. Oestrogen responsive tissues are especially epithelial cells of the myometrium of the uterus an |
