| Description | Specificity: Human CCBL1/KAT1. Kidney cysteine conjugate beta-lyase (kyneurenine aminotranferase 1)metabolizes the cysteine conjugates of certain halogenated alkenes and alkanes to form reactive metabolites that can produce nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity. KAT1 also catalyses the reversible transamination ofglutamine to oxoglutaramic acid and converts kynurenine into kynurenicacid (KYNA), a broadspectrum antagonist at ionotropic excitatory aminoacid receptors. |
