| Description | Description: The antibody is a polyclonal antibody made to the metalloproteinase ADAMTS-4. The antibody is made to a synthetic peptide based on the propeptide domain of human ADAMTS-4. The antibody has been peptide-affinity purified, concentrated to 1 mg/ml, with the addition of 0.05% Sodium Azide as preservative and 50% glycerol as cryoprotectant. ADAMTS-4, also known as aggrecanase-1, was first described as a protein elevated in arthritic synovium. Initial observations indicated a role for ADAMTS-4 in aggrecan cleavage and cartilage destruction, especially in arthritis. Aggrecan, versican and brevican are all cleaved by ADAMTS-4, and specific inhibition of ADAMTS-4 appears to block degradation of these matrix components. Induction of ADAM |
