| Description | Specificity: Adrenergic Receptor alpha-2A Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Adrenergic Receptor alpha-2A protein. The Alpha 2a- Adrenergic Receptor functions as a post-synaptic receptor that mediates the effects of epinephrine and norepinephrine. This adrenoceptor also functions as a presynaptic autoreceptor, inhibiting the subsequent release of neurotransmitter, especially epinephrine, from sympathetic nerves and from adrenergic neurons in the central nervous system. Adrenergic Alpha-2A Receptor polymorphisms have been identified in individuals with Tourette's syndrome. |
