Description | CD79a molecule, immunoglobulin-associated alpha, also known as mb-1, is expressed in B lymphocytes and is part of the B-cell antigen receptor complex.[1] This complex consists of a clonally restricted antigen-binding molecule (membrane Ig) associated noncovalently with an 'invariant' transducer/transporter complex. It is required in cooperation with CD79b for initiation of the signal transduction cascade activated by binding of antigen to the B-cell antigen receptor complex (BCR) which leads to internalization of the complex, trafficking to late endosomes and antigen presentation. [2] It is interacts with and increases activity of some Src-family tyrosine kinases. And also represses BCR signaling during development of immature B-cells. [3] |
